The 11th Annual TERRY FOX RUN For Cancer Research In HCM City
| Sunday, 23 November 2008 | |
HAS GLOBAL CYBERSOFT FORMED ITS TEAM YET? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Be part of a worldwide effort to find a cure for cancer! Every year thousands of volunteers organize Terry Fox Runs at over 5,000 Run sites in Canada and in more than 50 countries around the world. Over one million participants walk, jog and bike in memory of Terry to raise funds for cancer research. The first annual Terry Fox Run in Vietnam was held in HCM City in 1996 and the first in Hanoi was in 2000. Tens of thousands of people have participated in the Terry Fox Runs in Vietnam and have raised tens of thousands of dollars for cancer research in Vietnam. In Canada, the annual Terry Fox Run is held every September. In countries outside Canada, the Run is organized at a time that is convenient for local organizers and participants (in Vietnam, the rainy season, school terms and the expat community's vacation habits must be considered). The Run is a non-competitive event where people get together as individuals, families and groups to raise money in Terry’s name. It is a day of celebrating Terry’s legacy and helping to keep his dream of a cure for cancer alive. The Terry Fox Foundation's mission is to maintain the principles of Terry Fox while raising money for cancer research through the annual Terry Fox Run, memoriam donations, and planned gifts. More info at www.terryfoxrun.org/english/home/default.asp?s=1 Individual runners, walkers, bicyclists, handicapped participants and others - and corporate teams - are all welcome to join! Terry Fox died of cancer in 1981. At the age of 22 and knowing he was dying, Terry attempted to run across Canada to create awareness of the need for cancer research, managing to run 5,373 km in 143 days with one leg amputated. Terry Fox Runs have so far raised well over USD300,000,000 worldwide. NOW NOW NOW!!!! The minimum suggested pledge is only USD5 and you can sign up supporters to contribute on your behalf! AND! RP firm pilots ERP software designed for electronics firms
By Lawrence Casiraya

MANILA, Philippines--QMSoft Inc. will pilot enterprise resource planning (ERP) software it has developed specifically for electronics companies, a company official told INQUIRER.net.
Reynante Gamboa, QMSoft project manager, said his team has completed the initial version of QMPlus, the company's ERP suite.
The first version comprises of human resource (HR) modules and will be used by Laguna-based EMS Components Assembly Inc., parent firm of QMSoft. EMS provides assembly services for manufacturers like Panasonic, Sanyo and NEC.
Gamboa said in a phone interview that QMSoft will be available in four versions, each made up of specific modules in HR, inventory/production and another integrated with financial applications.
Gamboa and his team of four Filipino software engineers have been working with Silicon Valley-based Global Cybersoft in developing QMPLus.
Global Cybersoft is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and has development sites in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
"The end-goal is to market QMPlus overseas, targeting small and midsized electronics manufacturers," said Gamboa.
Global Cybersoft, meanwhile, will market and help implement the solution for overseas customers. The company has deployed Vietnamese software engineers to electronics firms in Japan, said to Perry Ferrer, EMS business development director.
QMPlus will also be available via software-as-a-service (or over the Web) to make it more affordable to smaller electronics manufacturers, according to Ferrer.
"Smaller companies do not have thousands of dollars to spend for industry-specific software," he said.
